Garden Organic is hoping that a whole new audience will be inspired to “Grow Your Own” by three limited edition prints issued by The Keep Calm Gallery.
Released in time for Christmas, the "Grow Your Greens" collection is now on sale for between £30 and £120 and 35% of the profits will go to Garden Organic.
Garden Organic’s Chief Executive, Myles Bremner is delighted at the collaboration with the gallery, saying that it is exactly the sort of support needed by Garden Organic.
The Keep Calm Gallery, established in 2007, is particularly strong on typography and if you like the "Keep Calm and Carry On” variety of print, you’ll find plenty to browse through here, including some typical jokey aphorisms such as “If you want breakfast in bed, sleep in the kitchen”.
Co-owner Hayley Thwaites says, “It's quite clear that grow-your-greens fever has gripped the nation's gardeners this year, and while our green-fingered talents are more about art than gardening we wanted to step in and see how we could show our support for such a great cause – hence the 'Grow Your Greens' collection came to be.”
The three are each very different. Not too keen personally on the expectant marrows by Matthew Green, though it’s obviously fun (£50 unframed), I'm more attracted by the organic shapes in Lucy McLauchlan’s print (£120, which is typical – why do I always want the expensive ones?). The third, by Hayley & Lucas, is an example of the gallery’s love of typography (£30).
Each edition is screen-printed by hand on recycled paper using environmentally friendly inks and can be ordered from The Keep Calm Gallery.
It can be hard to find presents for garden enthusiasts who have all the equipment they need,so I hope that this posting and others I'll be putting up over the next couple of weeks will be useful ideas for Christmas.
